This project started with a mind map, listing the affordances and signifiers of a common household object. Phase two began with thinking about the context behind those objects and how they can be a jumping off point for other ideas. Beginning with a pillow and thinking about rest (or lack of), I considered how we think of sleep as something to sacrifice for work, despite the harm it does to us. From there, PTO was born, shaped to contrast restful environments with the ordinary stressful environments we face everyday.
